Abstract:
Aiming at the end face seal textured with L-shape groove, a theoretical model was developed, and the seal performances of L-shape groove surface texture under the condition of different groove depths, length-width ratios, deflection angles and rotating ring speeds were studied with numerical simulation method based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The results show that the dynamic pressure effect of L-shape groove can change the pressure distribution of end face seal; with the increase of deflection angle, the load carrying force and leakage of seal face change as waves; L-shape groove with deflection angle of 225° and length-width ratio of 1 can improve the load carrying capacity of end face seal under high speed condition, while maintain the leakage stable.
