An Analysis of High-tech Industry Innovation Resilience and Its Spatial Network Structure from the Perspective of Innovation Chain

  • Based on the theory of innovation and resilience, an evaluation index system of high-tech industry innovation resilience was constructed from the perspective of innovation chain, taking 30 provinces (regions and cities) of China as a sample from 1997 to 2020, the entropy weight and TOPSIS model was used to comprehensively measure the high-tech industries innovation resilience, and the social network analysis method and the modified gravity model were used to explore the characteristics and driving factors of its spatial association network. The results show that the spatial correlation of the resilience of the high-tech industry innovation chain is getting closer and closer, the number of network connections and the density of the network fluctuate slightly in phases, and the degree of the network is relatively stable. The structure of spatial network shows the characteristic of “core-edge”, with the east in the core position and the middle and west in the edge position factors such as industrial structure upgrading, R&D investment and industrialization capability significantly affect the formation and evolution of high-tech industry innovation chain resilience. Based on the research conclusions, policy recommendations are put forward as follows: foster provincial (district and municipal) synergy in factors, technology, and industries with an overarching perspective, driving regional collaborative innovation; leverage the inherent strengths of core and peripheral regions to promote balanced development across all areas; harness spatial spillover effects to enhance the resilience of regional high-tech industry innovation chain; and optimize the innovation environment to boost resource allocation efficiency.
