Abstract
With finite element analysis software MARC, a simulation model was established for the actual rolling schedule data of a steel plant, and changes of plan-view shapes of heavy plate rolled with non-cleaned and cleaned billets were simulated. Influence of the cleaning mode of the billet on the plan-view shape was analyzed. The plan-view shape was improved by modifying the controlling parameters of the cleaned billet. Results show that according to the influence of different cleaning modes, the cleaning mode can be divided into two groups: partial surface cleaning and corner cleaning. It was found that the partial surface cleaning on the billet has a higher impact on the shearing displacement of the plate's head and tail. So, to obtain an ideal plan-view shape, the depth of digging in the broadening MAS (Mizushima automatic plan view pattern system) rolling pass should be increased by 1 mm for the partial surface cleaned billet and 0.5 mm for the corner cleaned billet.
