Experimental Research of Abrasion-resistant Concrete Preparation with Steel Slag

  • According to GB/T 50081 "standard for testing methods of mechanical properties of ordinary concrete", cubic standard specimens of concrete were prepared by using air-broken steel slag instead of yellow sand, and the strength and wear resistance of the specimens were tested. The effects of steel slag on concrete strength, abrasion resistance and internal interface bonding were studied. The results show that the 28 d compressive strength and abrasion resistance increased with the increases of the ratio of steel slag to yellow sand. When the ratio of steel slag is 70%, the abrasion resistance of concrete reaches the maximum. The hardness of RO phase and calcium ferrite is high in the phase composition of steel slag, and dicalcium silicate, tricalcium silicate and aggregate stone form a solid C-S-H cementitious body, which makes the transition zone between concrete mortar and aggregate close and improves the wear resistance of concrete. The results of engineering practice show that the strength and wear resistance of concrete with steel slag as fine aggregate are improved by 30% and 28%, higher than those without steel slag.
