Design Optimization of Renewable Energy Supply Systems for Zero Energy Buildings

  • According to energy usage of building in hot summer and cold winter regions, a feasible scheme for renewable energy supply system to achieve zero-energy building was designed. Cooling and heating load of the building was simulated with DeST, and thus the total building load was obtained. Then design optimization of supply energy systems was implemented with HOMER based on the provided building load. Performanc of system of two types of electricity policy, i.e. single rate policy (SRP) and time rate policy (TRP) were compared. The simulation analysis of a dormitory in central China university shows that the system under TRPis more economical, lower carbon emissions and grid-friendly than that under SRP. Sensitivity analysis performed by considering different sell-back prices, that COE can be increased by 9.7% under TRP when sell-back price is reduced to be 0.866 ¥/(kW·h). There is no advantage of economic and grid-friendly compared to traditional buildings (i.e. no renewable energy systems) but environmentally friendly.
