Research on Wear of Pre-forging Lower Die of Steering Knuckle During Hot Forging

  • Aiming at a J11 type of pre-forging lower die of steering knuckle, theArchard wear model was developed. The variation regularity of wear depth of pre-forging lower die of steering knuckle in the process of hot forging was simulated with the finite element software of Deform-3D. The influence of lower die pre-heating temperature and upper die running speed on wear depth of lower die was investigated. The results show that the wear area of lower die is mainly distributed in the flash gutter, rounded corners of lower die. With the increase of lower die pre-heating temperature and upper die running speed, the maximum wear depth of lower die decreases first and then increases. When the lower die pre-heating temperature is 250℃ and the upper die running speed is 150 mm/s, the maximum wear depth of lower die is small. The selection of reasonable operating parameters can effectively improve the service life of mold.
