Design of Quartz Tailing Silo and its Pneumatic Flow Assisting System

  • Taking the quartz tailing from an enterprise in Jiangsu Province as the research object, based on Jenike shear theory, the influence of the material properties of quartz tailing and the structue of pyramid bin on the gravity flow discharge was analyzed. Considering the influence of the size of the discharge port and the angle of the inclined cone on the flow state of the materials in the silo, the quartz tailing silo and its pneumatic flow assisting system were designed and applied to the trial operation of an enterprise in Jiangsu Province. The results show that when the moisture content of quartz tailing is 14% (mass fraction), the internal friction angle of the material is the largest, and the smaller the particle size is, the larger the internal friction angle is, but the increase tendency tends to be gentle when it reaches 150 μm. The designed quartz tailing silo and its pneumatic flow assisting system can guarantee the material loading and unloading performance, and prevent the material from blocking the bin. With an annual output of 20 000 t of quartz tailings, the designed quartz tailings silo and its pneumatic flow assisting system can reduce the production cost of 2 million yuan for the enterprise, and the social and environmental benefits are significant.
