Preparation and Performance Characterization of the Cemented Filling Materials of Gold Mine Tailings

  • The early strengthened type binding materials (ESBM) were prepared by using the blast furnace slag powder, P.O 42.5 cement, fly ash, calcium oxide and calcium sulfate as raw materials. The ESBM as binders were used to cement the fine gold mine tailings (FGMT) with median diameter D50 of 11.3 µm. The mechanical behavior and fluidity of the filling specimen were characterized and analyzed. The results show that the binding effect of ESBM on the FGMT is better than that of P.O 42.5 cement under the same mass ratio of binder to FGMT and content of solid FGMT slurry. At mass ratio of binder to FGMT being 1:12, the 28 d compressive strength of the filling specimen is 4.9 times of that for P.O 42.5 cement the amount of the hydration products of ESBM is more than that of P.O 42.5, cement. When the mass ratio of binder to FGMT is 1:6 and the mass fraction of solid FGMT slurry is with 70%, the slump of filling FGMT slurry is 278 mm for the specimen of the adding water reducer of polycarboxylic acid with 0.15% (mass fraction), and the compressive strength and fluidity can satisfy the requirement of filling.
