Research Progress on Emission Reduction of Volatile Organic Compounds in Industrial Flue Gas

  • Industrial fuel combustion activities are the main source of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emissions. VOCs are key precursors to the formation of ozone and secondary organic aerosols, causing hazards to the environment and human health. The current common VOCs control methods and emission reduction technologies were summarized, and the research progress on catalyst selection and development in the catalytic combustion technology for industrial flue gas VOCs was reviewed. The effects of doping modification and preparation methods of perovskite catalysts on the catalytic activity were compared, and the collaborative multi-pollutant abatement technologies for industrial flue gas were expected. Perovskite, a potential catalytic materials, exhibits high feasibility for industrial flue gas VOCs abatement. It is necessary to develop an efficient and stable perovskite catalyst with multi-pollutant co-reduction performance.
